Developing Proactive Discipline Programs
Brandywine School District has consistently taken proactive steps to implement programming to teach, model and reinforce appropriate behavior, and to use misbehavior as a learning opportunity for students. Over the course of several years, the following school climate programs and approaches have been successfully implemented: No Bully System; Positive Behavior Support; and Responsive Classrooms. While each program and approach has provided data demonstrating effectiveness, the use of multiple programs has created overlap and at times, mixed messages as to which program takes precedence over another. The objective of this activity is to identify the best components of each program and incorporate them into a working system and approach that meets the needs of our students. Paramount in this effort will be to provide the necessary professional develop and school support to successfully meet the needs of staff, students, and parents.
