developing online courses
As the District progresses with the development and procurement of on-line courses and implements a Learning Management System that provides the needed platform to offer such courses, the potential exists for class sizes to lower as on-line opportunities are brought to scale. While on-line courses will still necessitate course facilitators, the number of students enrolled in a single on-line course is typically greater than that of a traditional face-to-face offering. The net result can, over time, reduce the remaining face-to-face class sizes. In future years as both blended learning and on-line course offerings become more prevalent, structures and systems will need to be put in place that may also provide greater flexibility in actual ‘face-to-face seat time’ with teachers, again providing lower student to teacher ratio for face-to-face class sessions.
