The State of Delaware selected SafePlans as the statewide educational preparedness program based on its experience in the field and use of technology. Using the ERIP platform, SafePlans implements statewide programs that include:
Student safety continues to remain Brandywine School District’s top priority. Over the course of the past fifteen years as the District’s massive renovation project was completed, attention to safety and security was emphasized. Included in all three phases of school renovations was the addition to security cameras and DVRs to record camera activity. Staff identification badges and badge access points were also put in place as proactive security measures. Many of the schools in Phases II and III included altering existing structures to ensure separation of public entrance areas such as the Main Office from the sections housing students. Several schools in Phase I of the renovation effort did not include such a separation between the Main Office and the school proper. The District has made needed renovations at several Phase I schools and has a short term plan to address the remaining buildings, and to proactively upgrade existing surveillance systems.
