Student Success plans
A Student Success Plan provides students with a meaningful and ongoing process that focuses on their future success. It is a personal challenge to students to assume ownership for their learning and to learn self-direction as a life-long skill. Students are guided in their efforts by adults who interact with them to arrive at a mutually agreed-upon set of learning goals and developmental activities. Support for meeting this challenge also comes from parents through active interest from the development phase through graduation.
The development of the Student Success Plan will incorporate student learning preferences and career interests identified through student surveys and the state mandated Career Cruzing Program that begins at middle school. As Student Success Plans evolve, the activities and information gather for the student will be used to guide high school course selection process to align with specific Brandywine School District Programs of Study (see Goal 1, Strategy 1, Activity 1 for more information on BSD Programs of Study development).
Individual learning plans are a foundational component of personalization efforts intended to help students plan for their future under the guidance of adults who know and care about them.
Personalization is a learning process in which schools help students assess their own talents and aspirations, plan a pathway toward their own purposes, work cooperatively with others on challenging tasks, maintain a record of their explorations and demonstrate learning against clear standards in a wide variety of media, all with the close support of adult mentors and guides.
